Comrade Ted Martens Receives Award for Volunteerism

Ted Martens Volunteer Award

Pictured above is Comrade Ted Martens, NS/NU Command Grand President, District A Commander and Past President of NS/NU Command, receiving the Sovereigns' Medal for Volunteers.

The Sovereigns' Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.

As an official Canadian honor, the Medal for Volunteers incorporates and replaces the Governor Generals' Caring Canadian Award. The Medal builds on the legacy and spirit of the Caring Canadian Award by honoring the dedication and commitment of volunteers.

This Medal was presented to Comrade Martens in Sydney September 19, 2017 by the Mayor of Cape Breton Region Municipality, His Worship Mayor Cecil Clarke along with the Cape Breton Chief of Police, Peter MacIssac.
