Presentation of the First Poppy to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia 24 Oct 18 2

 

His Honour, The Honourable Arthur J. LeBlanc, ONS, QC, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia was presented with the first ceremonial poppy of the 2018 Annual Poppy Campaign by Royal Canadian Legion Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command President Melvin Crowe.  The presentation took place at Government House, Halifax on October 24 2018.

 

 

 

 

Air Cadet League of Canada Receives Donation

Mr. Ron Trowsdale, Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Nova Scotia / Nunavut Command, presents a cheque to Mr. Dan Kehoe CD, Chairman of the Air Cadet League of Canada Nova Scotia Provincial Committee in support of the Air Cadet International Exchange Program.

This year the Air Cadet League of Canada will host sixty-nine cadets and their escorts from eleven countries including, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, China, France, South Korea, United Kingdom, USA, Hong Kong, Netherlands and Switzerland. The cadets will visit the Maritimes from July 17th until August 1st.

The Air Cadet League of Canada thanks the Royal Canadian Legion Nova Scotia / Nunavut Command for their continued support of the Air Cadet International Exchange Program. This support has assisted in providing an introduction to Canada and lifetime international friendships to over 200 prospective leaders in their countries.

Comrade Ted Martens Receives Award for Volunteerism

Pictured above is Comrade Ted Martens, NS/NU Command Grand President, District A Commander and Past President of NS/NU Command, receiving the Sovereigns' Medal for Volunteers.

The Sovereigns' Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.

As an official Canadian honor, the Medal for Volunteers incorporates and replaces the Governor Generals' Caring Canadian Award. The Medal builds on the legacy and spirit of the Caring Canadian Award by honoring the dedication and commitment of volunteers.

This Medal was presented to Comrade Martens in Sydney September 19, 2017 by the Mayor of Cape Breton Region Municipality, His Worship Mayor Cecil Clarke along with the Cape Breton Chief of Police, Peter MacIssac.
